A law firm in Cedar Rapids, IA, is seeking a Bankruptcy or Creditor Rights Attorney. The attorney will be responsible for handling various aspects of creditor rights in the bankruptcy context, including assisting property owners dealing with tenants who have filed bankruptcy, lenders dealing with borrowers who have filed bankruptcy, preparing and filing proofs of claim, motions to lift stay, as well as pleadings in adversary and reorganization proceedings. The ideal candidate should possess excellent academic credentials and have strong writing, analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

 

Duties:

  • Assist property owners dealing with tenants who have filed bankruptcy
  • Assist lenders dealing with borrowers who have filed bankruptcy
  • Prepare and file proofs of claim
  • Prepare and file motions to lift stay
  • Draft pleadings in adversary and reorganization proceedings
  • Conduct legal research and analysis in bankruptcy and creditor rights matters
  • Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and opposing counsel
  • Manage deadlines and prioritize tasks efficiently

 

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of law firm or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in handling creditor rights in the bankruptcy context
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Strong writing, analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills

Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school
