Legal Aid of West Virginia (LAWV) is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Housing Attorney in Clarksburg, WV. As a Housing Attorney, you will have the opportunity to provide high quality legal advice, representation, and other appropriate legal services to low-income clients. You will be a member of LAWV's Legal Help for Renter's Project, a partnership with the WV Housing Development Fund, with the goal of providing holistic legal assistance to eligible tenants. Key Responsibilities: - Represent low-income clients in court, administrative law proceedings, and community settings - Prepare legal documents, gather evidence, and conduct research for cases - Attend and participate in task forces focused on issues impacting clients - Mentorship, training, and case reviews for new attorneys - Engage the legal community and members of the Bar to provide pro bono work for Legal Aid clients - Balance administrative and client advocacy responsibilities Qualifications: - . degree and admitted to practice in West Virginia in good standing - Demonstrated commitment to understanding and addressing issues of low-income constituents - Ability to use office technologies and learn LAWV case management software - Excellent time management and organizational skills - Ability to work occasional nights and weekends, and travel to court and administrative hearings Salary and Benefits: - Salaried position with an annual starting salary range of $52,000-$61,400 - Generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as retirement and flex savings accounts - workweek, paid vacation and sick leave - Eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program Come home to Clarksburg, WV and experience the unique flavors, culture, and heritage of this vibrant city.
