A law firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney for their Fort Lauderdale, FL office. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in litigation, specifically in general liability and/or insurance defense.

Job Overview:

The Insurance Defense Attorney will be responsible for managing a caseload of insurance defense matters, from inception to resolution. This role requires significant trial experience, the ability to handle civil cases through trial, and the capability to negotiate settlements effectively. The candidate must be a motivated self-starter who can handle assignments with minimal supervision.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters, including general liability cases.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses.
  • Attend hearings, oral arguments, and trials.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providing regular updates on case status.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and staff members on case strategy and tactics.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience practicing law.
  • Significant litigation and trial experience, preferably in insurance defense.
  • Proficiency in handling civil cases through trial, including taking depositions, oral arguments, and negotiating settlements.
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Currently licensed to practice law in Florida; additional licensure in other states is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Must be licensed to practice law in Florida.
