A law firm in Wayne, PA, is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney responsible for developing and sharing subject matter expertise with clients, partners, and law firm members. The role involves reviewing bankruptcy documents, attending hearings, advising clients and staff on file-specific legal matters, staying current with relevant laws, and overseeing non-attorney staff to achieve client objectives.

 

Duties:

  • Develop and share subject matter expertise with clients, partners, and law firm members.
  • Review bankruptcy documents, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 cases.
  • Attend hearings and represent clients in assigned contested matters.
  • Timely advise clients and staff on file-specific legal matters.
  • Continuously improve and stay current with laws impacting clients and the practice.
  • Assisted in training staff and handling Chapter 7, Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 cases as they pertained to the role of secured creditors.
  • Handle mid-level escalated/litigated matters with guidance from the managing bankruptcy attorney.
  • Acquire knowledge of underlying non-bankruptcy laws and procedures, such as foreclosure and eviction.
  • Conduct PACER reviews to determine whether foreclosure or eviction may proceed.
  • Provide legal and compliance review of pleadings and documents.
  • Prepare for and attend motion hearings on flat fee matters.
  • Negotiate resolutions with opposing counsel.
  • Oversee, educate, and collaborate with non-attorney staff in compliance with legal and ethical requirements.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate in Law.
  • Must be Barred in Maryland and admitted to Pennsylvania Bankruptcy Courts.
  • 1-5 years of experience representing architects and engineers and handling complex construction claims.

 

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Knowledge of Chapter 7, Chapter 12, and Chapter 13 cases, with a focus on secured creditors.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with local rules, procedures, and judges.
  • Ability to oversee and collaborate with non-attorney staff.
