Mid-Level Patent Associate (AI Focus) - Join Michael Best's Intellectual Property Practice Group

Michael Best, a full-service law firm with over 350 lawyers and technical professionals, is seeking a Mid-Level Patent Associate to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a minimum of 2 years of patent drafting and prosecution experience to work with a highly respected organization in a collaborative and dynamic role. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Robotics, and a strong interest in the AI field.

Responsibilities:

- Draft and prosecute patent applications
- Conduct patent analysis and opinions of counsel
- Participate in inter partes reviews (IPRs)
- Manage patent portfolios
- Collaborate with clients, attorneys, and staff at all levels of the firm
- Learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves
- Manage time and deadlines for a variety of ongoing projects
- Work independently and as part of a team
- Communicate effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive situations with tact and discretion
- Identify and analyze issues, make decisions, and initiate solutions
- Maintain professionalism and good judgment
- Possess valid authorization to work in the .

Requirements:

- 2+ years of prosecution experience at a firm or in-house
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Machine Learning, or Robotics
- Experience with patent analysis/opinions of counsel and IPRs is a plus
- Experience with blockchain and distributed ledgers, video codecs, and cloud platforms and computing is a plus
- Admission to the USPTO is a plus

Salary Information:

For Colorado applicants only, the starting salary for this position in the Denver office is $190,000. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors, including experience in the practice area. Associates are also eligible to participate in Michael Best's associate bonus program, as well as the firm's 401k plan and employer-sponsored benefits.
