H1: International Tax Services Associate - Summer 2025 (Detroit)
H2: Job Summary:
- Utilize educational background and organizational skills to assist in consulting with clients on cross-border tax matters
- Provide international tax advice and assist clients with tax reporting obligations for international operations
- Gain exposure to international tax law and coordinate with BDO colleagues in approximately 160 countries
- Develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding international taxation

H2: Job Duties:
- Tax Consulting
- Develop and implement critical thinking to provide clients with tax advice on international tax issues
- Gain exposure to work plans for assigned clients
- Monitor tax law and client factual developments on a daily basis
- Coordinate with BDO colleagues in other countries on how US tax rules align with foreign tax law
- Tax Specialization
- Explore specializing in one or more international tax areas
- Research
- Identify when research is necessary and gather relevant information
- Assist in preparing Written Tax Advice (WTA) on international tax and cross-border transactions
- Tax Compliance
- Obtain required client information for international tax compliance forms and US international informational reporting
- Understand tax compliance topics such as Subpart F income, Earnings and Profits adjustments, and foreign tax credits
- Tax Controversy
- Learn about representing clients before the IRS on contested issues
- Tax Technology
- Utilize tax research databases and tax-related software
- ASC 740-10
- Develop a basic understanding of ASC 740-10 as it applies to international tax issues
- Understand and apply Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual

H2: Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting or other business related major
- ., LLM, and/or MST/MBT preferred
- Experience:
- Internship within a professional services firm preferred
- Tax experience preferred
- License/Certifications:
- CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a . jurisdiction), or Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (“EA”) preferred
- Software:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with tax research databases such as RIA, BNA, Lexis Nexis and/or Westlaw preferred
- Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid analytical and legal and tax research skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines
- Ability to multi-task and work independently or within a team environment

- Individual salaries offered to candidates are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and location
- California Range: $65,000 - $110,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $76,000 - $110,000
- Washington Range: $65,000 - $110,000
