Overview:

Pinion, a Top 70 accounting and consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Associate to join our National Tax Solutions (NTS) team, based in our National Tax Office. We are looking for an aspiring leader with a strong tax and business foundation, who is ready to take on deeper technical areas of client service. Roles and Responsibilities:

- Serve as a tax-focused CPA or JD, bringing a creative and out-of-the-box approach to solving client problems
- Provide strategic guidance to clients from various industries, helping them grow their business through entity selection and reorganization, buying and selling businesses, and modeling transactions
- Assess, understand, and communicate risk effectively, challenging the status quo and making a real difference in client service
- Have expertise in federal income tax law and enjoy creative problem-solving
- Look beyond technical details to see the big picture and help others do the same
- Dive into root issues and turn them into opportunities for greater client service

Requirements:

- CPA or JD required
- 4-7 years of experience in tax research and consulting
- Experience with passthrough entities (Partnerships and S corporations)
- Experience with entity selection and reorganization, including choice of entity, restructuring, buying and selling of businesses
- Experience with transition planning for closely held businesses
- Ability to read and understand financial statements and tax returns
- Technical depth in at least one of the following areas, with interest in learning others:
- General to complex partnership issues
- General to complex S corporation issues
- Corporate reorganizations, mergers, and acquisitions
- Asset sales and transfers
- State and local income tax
- Executive compensation and benefits
- Methods of accounting
- Representing clients in tax controversy matters before the IRS and state taxing authorities
- Curiosity to go beyond the textbook, asking hard questions and using technical skills to provide solutions to client problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial and tax information to colleagues, clients, and their advisors
- Willingness to stay updated on tax trends, IRS guidance, legislation, etc. and communicate updates to the firm
- Willingness to travel occasionally, up to 20% annually

Bonus Qualifications:

- Transaction modeling and cash flow planning experience
- Desire and ability to review and consult on legal documents for transactions
- LLM in Taxation

Salary Information:

In some states and municipalities, Pinion is required by law to include a reasonable estimate for the range of compensation. The wide range for this role reasonably accounts for these factors. Specific compensation decisions are made based on individual circumstances. The current estimated range for this position is $65,000 - $95,000.
