Florida Attorney General's Internship Program: Gain Practical Experience in Law

The Florida Attorney General's Internship Program offers law students the opportunity to gain practical experience in a legal field and contribute to meaningful work towards the completion of their degree. The program is open to students enrolled in an accredited ABA law school, and offers both unpaid internships for academic credit and opportunities through participation in law school sponsored programs.

The Office of Statewide Prosecution is responsible for prosecuting specific crimes that impact two or more judicial circuits in the state of Florida. This office works closely with state and federal counterparts to focus on complex, often large scale, organized criminal activity. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with law enforcement and state attorneys to coordinate the prosecutions of multi-circuit violations of state law.

Organization Overview: The Attorney General serves as the attorney for the State of Florida and as a member of the Florida Cabinet. The Office of the Attorney General provides legal representation to the state and its agencies, defends the state in litigation, and enforces the state's laws.

Responsibilities:

- Gain practical experience in a legal field
- Assist in the prosecution of complex, organized criminal activity
- Work closely with state and federal counterparts
- Coordinate the prosecutions of multi-circuit violations of state law
- Conduct legal research and writing

- Attend meetings and trainings with law enforcement and state attorneys

Qualifications:

- Enrolled in an accredited ABA law school
- Eligible to receive academic credit for the internship
- Able to intern a minimum of 20 hours per week

- Strong research and writing skills
- Able to work closely with a team
- Knowledge of state and federal laws and court procedures

- 2nd and 3rd year law students will be expected to provide a writing sample at the time of interview if selected
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged
- Only those who receive a favorable background will be placed for review by managers

- Summer: January 31 (extended to March 1 for 2024)
- Fall: June 30
