Job Description:

BDO, a global consulting firm, is seeking a Director to join their thriving Privacy & Data Protection (PDP) Practice. This is an exciting opportunity for a data protection and privacy subject matter expert to work with both domestic and international clients and professionals.

The PDP Director will be responsible for maintaining and developing client relationships, delivering quality work product, managing project teams, and ensuring projects are completed on-time and on-budget. This role will also involve developing and delivering global data protection and privacy strategies, building cross-cultural functionality for clients, and managing BDO USA team members and collaborating with BDO Member Firms and offshore team members. The Director will also be responsible for providing detailed information to clients on various privacy laws, guiding and advising team members, establishing new relationships to drive new opportunities, and ensuring consistency across service delivery by complying with BDO’s Quality Risk Management, Data Protection, and other Frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s, Juris Doctorate, or MBA preferred) and 10+ years of consulting experience with at least 3 years of data protection or privacy experience. They should also have experience working with Fortune 500 clients and managing large, complex privacy projects. One or more privacy certifications and knowledge of privacy enabled technology solutions are also required.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies
- Build cross-cultural functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs
- Develop and deliver privacy operations program plans for global corporate clients
- Manage BDO USA team members and collaborate with BDO Member Firms and offshore team members
- Provide detailed level information to clients around various domestic and global privacy laws
- Guide and advise team members on project budget and scheduling
- Establish new relationships to drive new opportunities for BDO
- Comply with BDO’s Quality Risk Management, Data Protection, and other Frameworks
- Manage and maintain relationships with client professionals and introduce other BDO professionals
- Manage day-to-day project requirements and onsite/remote team
- Ensure timely and thoughtful responses to client inquiries
- Build relationships with other BDO professionals and participate in BDO and industry events
- Provide quality level services to corporate clients
- Update customer relationship management for appropriate pipeline reporting
- Review executive reports and provide feedback to team members
- Develop proposals, respond to RFP/RFI’s, and manage Master Service Agreements
- Utilize knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans, establish reporting and metrics, and provide regular updates to clients
- Participate in and conduct business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance interviews and meetings
- Proofread and edit executive reports prior to presenting to clients
- Manage client and BDO Partner expectations at all levels
- Mentor team members to ensure consistent quality of work product and adherence to BDO standards
- Manage multiple large, complex and potentially long-term engagements and clients
- Manage client expectations and support in-person presentations to senior level executives
- Support the Data Protection Officer for clients, as required
- Develop and manage project budgets, review invoices, and ensure timely delivery
- Act as a leader and maintain a professional, positive attitude toward clients and firm personnel
- Manage a team of professionals on a project or regional basis
- Other duties as required

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s, Juris Doctorate, or MBA preferred

- Act as mentor to team members
