Associate Counsel - Contested Foreclosure: Responsible for managing a large portfolio of contested foreclosure cases for Selene Holdings, a multi-line business financial services firm with office locations in Dallas, TX, Jacksonville, FL, and Salt Lake City, UT. This full-time position requires a Juris Doctor degree and an active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction. Location: Dallas, TX or Jacksonville, FL (This is not a work from home opportunity)

Experience:

- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Active license to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
- Prior experience in foreclosure law or consumer finance preferred
- Familiarity with mortgage loan servicing and related processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a large docket of cases
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work in a team environment and handle competing priorities
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage people
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
- High level of professionalism and confidentiality
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities

Responsibilities:

- Manage a large portfolio of contested foreclosure cases
- Develop strategies with contested specialists, foreclosure counsel, and clients to resolve cases
- Manage a team of direct reports and provide regular performance feedback
- Handle escalated title curative and lien priority claims
- Notify senior management of high-risk cases
- Review LPS queues to determine case transfer to Legal (Contested) Department
- Conduct initial case intake and set up
- Provide investor reports and participate in investor calls
- Manage cases to conclusion through various means (judgment, trial, settlement, etc.)
- Analyze industry case decisions and potential impact on Selene operations
- Schedule trainings for team with internal and external resources
- Work with various departments and external parties to resolve contested foreclosure matters
- Respond to discovery requests and motions
- Conduct factual research and analysis of loan issues
- Manage case dockets, deadlines, and pleadings
- Participate in settlement negotiations to minimize risk and losses
- Provide coaching, training, and development to staff
- Recognize and recommend operational improvements
- Develop and maintain department policies and procedures
- Measure and document staff performance and compliance
- Escalate issues to management when necessary
