Deputy General Counsel - Lead Legal Advisor to Environmental Program Teams

Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and instruction to environmental program teams on lobbying compliance, ethics, conflicts, and other legal issues
- Conduct legal research, interpret laws and regulations, and apply knowledge to Earthjustice's work
- Supervise Senior Counsel for Conflicts and Lobbying Compliance
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, and developing a diverse workforce
- Review and draft contracts as needed
- Identify and mitigate organizational risks
- Collaborate with other leaders to ensure appropriate tracking and reporting of lobbying activities
- Develop legal compliance training for all lawyers

Qualifications:
- . and California State Bar admission in good standing
- Minimum of 15 years of successful experience practicing law
- Experience with cost-effective management of outside legal resources
- Strong knowledge of law firm best practices and legal technology
- Expertise in litigation and legal ethics
- Passion for Earthjustice's mission and advocacy-based approach
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects

Salary & Benefits:

Salary Range:
- San Francisco or New York-based: $208,000 to $231,000
- Washington, : $197,000 to $219,000 (also applies to Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Honolulu)
