Position Summary:
- Opportunity for experienced and enthusiastic attorney to join health team
- Advocate on health-related poverty law issues throughout the state
- Work on impact litigation, policy advocacy, and assistance and training for legal services attorneys
- Strong understanding of health care issues and commitment to addressing race-based inequities

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with health team to ensure equitable access to affordable, quality health care for all Californians
- Identify and maintain caseload of impact litigation related to health team's focus areas
- Further execution of current programmatic work
- Advance administrative, regulatory, and policy changes at local, county, state, and federal levels
- Provide expertise, research, and advocacy support to legal services organizations
- Work with policy advocates on health-related initiatives
- Represent organization in coalitions, forums, and boards
- Draft and disseminate reports, legal analyses, and educational materials

Qualifications:
- Commitment to mission of Western Center
- Admitted to practice law in California
- At least 5 years of experience as an attorney, 9 years for senior attorney role
- Strong litigation skills in any practice area
- Passion for health care, racial justice, and anti-poverty policy
- Experience working with marginalized communities
- Prior work at legal services or community-based organization preferred
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Ability to think creatively, be strategic, and exercise good judgment
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
