# Senior Counsel at Circle

Circle is a financial technology company that is dedicated to creating an inclusive financial future. The company is looking for a Senior Counsel to play an immediate and direct role in complex commercial transactional work and marketing, supporting their Business and Business Development segments, and their compliance and vendor management teams.

## Responsibilities

The Senior Counsel will be responsible for:

* Structuring, negotiating and drafting complex fintech, payments, crypto and tech transactions, addressing legal risk in business-centric ways with the goal of strengthening partnerships and advancing opportunities.
* Supporting the creation and expansion of contract templates and terms of use to reflect new and existing products and services.
* Aiding in the development and implementation of processes, procedures and metrics (including efficient contracting processes) to increase the overall effectiveness of the legal services provided to the company.
* Addressing legal risk in business-centric ways, developing processes to solve problems, strengthening partnerships and advancing opportunities.
* Assisting business leaders with contract interpretation and management.
* Remaining up-to-date on relevant finance, payments and digital currency space to ensure an ongoing ability to provide sound marketing compliance advice.

## Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

* 6+ years (for Counsel)/10+ years (for Senior Counsel) of practical, hands-on legal experience, both law firm (AM Law 100) and in-house experience are preferred.
* Extensive experience drafting and negotiating complex fintech, financial services and tech agreements.
* Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams on strategic partnerships, with a focus on Product, Business and Compliance teams.
* Experience advising clients on risk mitigation across technology product platforms.
* Passion for financial technology and the disruptive potential of cryptocurrency and blockchains, are a team player with a sense of humor, and enjoy learning but also mentoring.
* Comfort working in an evolving and growing environment that is prone to changes, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Ability to apply sound, practical business judgment to legal recommendations, and be creative at solving problems while balancing important legal risks for the business.
* Ability to work autonomously and independently with minimal guidance but also be comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team.
* JD (preferably from a “T-14” law school and/or with honors/law review from a US News & World Report Top 50 law school) and be an active member of at least one state bar.
* Proficiency in Google Suite, Slack and Apple MacOS preferred.

## Compensation

The Senior Counsel position is eligible for day-one PERM sponsorship for qualified candidates and offers a competitive compensation package. The compensation range for Phoenix, AZ is $155,000 - $215,000 with an annual bonus target of %. In addition, Circle provides Equity & Benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)). Circle has a discretionary vacation policy. They also provide 10 days of paid sick leave per year and 11 paid holidays per year in the .
