A law firm in Boston is seeking a qualified Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in biomedical or mechanical engineering, coupled with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting thorough patent searches and analysis.
  • Drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to medical devices and mechanical engineering.
  • Providing legal advice and opinions on patentability, infringement, and validity matters.
  • Collaborating with inventors, engineers, and clients to understand and assess inventions.
  • Participating in patent litigation, if necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering. Other engineering disciplines are acceptable with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
  • Superb writing and communication skills.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

 

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of patent laws and regulations.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
