This role involves defending employment-related claims, representing employers in various legal settings, and providing strategic pre-litigation advice. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of employment law, excellent litigation skills, and the ability to act as a business partner to clients on employment-related issues.

Duties:

  • Defend and litigate lawsuits involving various employment-related claims, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, contract disputes, employment torts, and non-compete cases.
  • Represent employers in court, before administrative agencies, during mediation, and in arbitration proceedings.
  • Provide strategic pre-litigation advice to clients, focusing on litigation avoidance and aligning legal strategies with clients’ employee retention and recruitment goals.
  • Act as a client business partner, offering timely advice on employment law issues to help navigate and mitigate risks.
  • Manage cases from inception through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, and trial preparation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal developments in employment law and adapt strategies accordingly.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • At least 1 year of employment law experience, with substantial litigation experience preferred.
  • Must be currently admitted to the Massachusetts Bar or can obtain admission quickly.
  • Admission to the Bars of Maine, Rhode Island, or Vermont is a plus.
  • Familiarity with current procedures of state and federal agencies involved in employment litigation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Massachusetts State Bar. Admissions to ME, RI, or VT Bars are advantageous.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation skills, including experience in motion practice and trial advocacy.
  • Effective analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to provide practical and proactive advice that aligns with client business strategies.
