The Office of the Solicitor, now known as the Office of the Solicitor for the . Department of the Interior (DOI), is seeking talented, dedicated law students for their Legal Internship Program. This program offers practical experience advising agencies on the legal aspects of their mission, as well as participating in complex civil litigation before administrative tribunals or assisting the Justice Department in litigating matters before federal courts. The program is open to undergraduate students who are enrolled at least half-time, public policy graduate students, first-year (second semester), second- and third-year law students, and law school graduates who are enrolled in graduate law programs (., . programs) at least half-time. Native American candidates are strongly encouraged to apply, as the Office has unique responsibilities to support the Department’s programs to benefit American Indians and Alaska Natives. Salary: Intern positions are without compensation, but are eligible to participate in the Transit Subsidy Benefit Program.

Qualifications:

- Must be a student enrolled at least half-time
- Must be in good academic standing and provide official documentation from their school
- First-year, first-semester law students may apply after December 1 for internships the following summer

By participating in the Legal Internship Program, students will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in environmental and administrative law, as well as Indian law. They will also have the chance to work with and learn from experienced attorneys and participate in important legal matters affecting the lives of millions of people. This program is a great opportunity for law students to gain practical experience and contribute to the mission of DOI, the Nation's premier conservation agency.
