Organization: Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria
Job Title: Contract Defense Attorney
Department: Tribal Court
Experience: Juris Doctorate from accredited law school, experience in tribal justice system preferred
Salary: Grant-funded, as needed contract work, approximately 10 hours per month to start
Responsibilities:
- Represent individuals in Tribal Court for matters within jurisdiction
- Participate in Wellness Court team and related activities
- Communicate with clients and provide legal advice
- Develop arguments and represent clients in legal proceedings
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate and good standing with any state bar
- Must become a member of Trinidad Rancheria Tribal Bar within one month of contract start
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with wellness courts and Indian law
- Experience working with Native American communities and individuals
- Experience with substance abuse issues

- Ethical and able to make sound judgments

Physical Demands:
