A law firm in Portland is seeking a Construction Litigation Associate Attorney with at least 3 years of experience in transactional and/or litigation construction law. The ideal candidate will have strong academic credentials, substantive knowledge of construction law matters, and the ability to engage in business development within the real estate/construction industry.

 

Duties:

  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents related to construction litigation matters.
  • Participate in discovery processes, including document requests, depositions, and interrogatories.
  • Assist in arbitration and trial proceedings, including witness preparation and courtroom appearances.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate construction contracts, including AIA forms.
  • Provide legal counsel on lien laws, bid protests, delay and impact claims, and governmental contracts.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on construction law issues.
  • Engage in business development efforts to expand the firm's presence in the real estate/construction industry.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 3+ years of experience in transactional and/or litigation construction law.
  • Admission to the Oregon State Bar or eligibility for reciprocity.
  • Substantive knowledge of lien laws, bid protests, delay and impact claims, and governmental contracts.
  • Excellent academic credentials and professional references.
  • Strong research, analysis, writing, and communication skills.
  • Self-initiative and strong time management skills.

 

Skills:

  • Substantive knowledge of construction law.
  • Proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
