Job Title Law Clerk - Summer 2024 (Government Affairs) Organization is seeking a Law Clerk to join their Government Affairs team. The position is a full-time temporary role located in Washington, District of Columbia. The Law Clerk will be responsible for working on projects concerning endangered species, public lands and pollution issues, focusing primarily on congressional legislation and administrative regulatory proposals. This is an ideal opportunity for a law student who has completed their second or third year of law school, or a student pursuing their LLMs to gain experience in environmental advocacy. The Law Clerk will be paid $17/hour for their work. ## Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualifications and skills: * Must be a law student who has completed their second or third year of law school, or a student pursuing their LLMs to be eligible; * Strong legal research and writing skills; * Creative, good-humored law students are encouraged to apply; * Background in conservation and general knowledge of the Endangered Species Act, public-land laws, National Environmental Policy Act, Clean Air Act and other environmental laws is preferred. ## Main Duties The Law Clerk will be primarily responsible for the following duties: * Focus primarily on analyzing federal and state legislation relating to endangered species, public lands and pollution; * Review administrative regulations and other policy proposals; * Draft policy comments and assisting with other Government Affairs program priorities; * Track current legislation in Congress relating to the Endangered Species Act, public-land laws, National Environmental Policy Act and Clean Air Act, with opportunities to attend meetings with agency and congressional staff. ## Application Process To apply for this position, please submit a cover letter explaining your interest in working at the Center, resume, writing sample (no longer than 10 pages), transcript (unofficial is fine) and three references as a single document via their website.
