Job Overview:

  • Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
  • Analyze patent and scientific documents to support patent prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Utilize superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.

 

Duties:

  • Perform prior art searches to assess patentability and freedom to operate.
  • Analyze patent and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys in various legal matters.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Collaborate with patent attorneys and inventors to understand technology and legal requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of developments in material science and chemical engineering.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in material science, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or related field).
  • Substantive industry experience in chemical engineering or material science.
  • Broad scientific knowledge in material science and/or chemical engineering.
  • Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Registered US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

 

Certifications:

Registered US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

 

Skills:

  • Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency in conducting prior art searches and analyzing technical documents.
