In this role, you will provide legal support for commercial transactions primarily in North America, with a focus on drafting and reviewing sales, procurement, and other commercial agreements. You will also advise on material matters related to procurement, sales, and corporate activities, while collaborating with internal clients, customers, and other third parties. As a Senior Counsel at Adient, you will:
- Review, draft, and negotiate various types of sales and procurement contracts, including technology procurement and other purchasing agreements, OEM supply agreements, sales agreements, and development agreements
- Provide practical, business-savvy counseling and support to internal clients in assigned areas of commercial transactions and related issues
- Stay up-to-date with current legal risks and advise on potential or emerging business risks faced by the company
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal clients and serve as the primary legal lead on assigned strategic initiatives
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of contract review processes and entity management
- Collaborate with other members of the Legal Department and outside counsel on both legal and business projects
- Efficiently manage outside counsel costs
- Utilize Legal Department electronic tools and applications

To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum 8 years of transactional experience in a major law firm, a publicly traded multi-national corporation, or both
- Experience as a transactional attorney with an emphasis on complex commercial contracts and corporate law, with a preference for candidates with expertise in IT and technology solutions, including privacy terms
- Experience in the automotive industry is preferred
- Strong drafting skills and knowledge of standard contracting administration
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence without authority
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive relationships with management and external parties
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
