A law firm in Spartanburg, SC, is seeking a dynamic Family Law Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have 1-6 years of experience in family law, possess strong advocacy skills, and demonstrate compassion and empathy in handling sensitive legal matters.

Duties:

  • Handle a caseload of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, support, and domestic violence cases
  • Conduct client consultations and assess legal issues and needs
  • Draft and file legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and affidavits
  • Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies
  • Maintain communication with clients to provide updates and guidance throughout the legal process
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff to manage cases effectively

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the South Carolina Bar or eligibility to sit for the Bar exam
  • 1-6 years of experience practicing family law preferred
  • Strong understanding of South Carolina family law statutes and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Compassion, empathy, and sensitivity in dealing with clients facing challenging family situations
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in legal work

Certifications:

  • Membership in relevant professional organizations such as the American Bar Association (ABA) or the South Carolina Bar Association
  • Certifications or coursework in family law or mediation are advantageous but not required
