A law firm in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking a Mid-level Intellectual Property Attorney with 4+ years of experience to join their team. The ideal candidate will be involved in patent counseling, procurement, and opinions, with opportunities for licensing and enforcement. This role requires practical experience and in-depth knowledge of Biology or Biotechnology.

 

Job Duties:

  • Counsel clients on effective IP strategy options.
  • Perform patent procurement activities, including:
  • Preparation and prosecution of complex patent applications.
  • Managing a global patent portfolio across multiple jurisdictions by instructing foreign patent counsel in the prosecution of foreign counterpart applications.
  • Consulting with inventors, technical experts, and patent portfolio managers.
  • Conduct IP-related due diligence for opinions, including patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement and invalidity analyses.
  • Engage in patent counseling, procurement, and opinion development.
  • Collaborate on licensing and enforcement activities.

 

Requirements:

  • Practical experience and in-depth knowledge of Biology or Biotechnology.
  • Good standing in the bar(s) where licensed to practice law.
  • Active USPTO Registration.
  • Superior technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Superior academic record.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • . or MS in a biology discipline (., molecular biology, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, or biotechnology).

 

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in good standing.
  • Active USPTO Registration.
