A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent to join their team in Boston. The Patent Agent will play a crucial role in assisting patent attorneys with the preparation and prosecution of patent applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with inventors, conduct research on current patented technologies, and draft patent applications with the support of the patent team. Additionally, the Patent Agent will track the patent application process, perform ability searches, respond to office actions, and consistently meet billable hour requirements. A strong candidate for this role will have excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to daily tasks, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.

 

Duties:

  • Assist patent attorneys in preparing and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Collaborate with inventors on newly created products.
  • Identify patentable inventions and conduct research on current patented technologies.
  • Draft patent applications with the guidance of the patent team.
  • Track the patent application process from initial application to granted patent.
  • Conduct regular ability searches.
  • Respond to office actions and correspond with the . Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Meet billable hour requirements consistently.
  • Provide solutions to client challenges and respond to client needs.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering.
  • Preferably a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • USPTO Registration is required.

 

Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach to daily tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Experience:
