BDO is seeking a Director to join our thriving Privacy & Data Protection Practice as a subject matter expert and engagement leader. As a Director, you will be responsible for developing and delivering global data protection and privacy strategies, managing project teams, and ensuring timely and quality delivery of work product for clients. Key Responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies to client C-suite/board
- Manage project teams and ensure timely delivery of quality work product for clients
- Build cross-culture functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs
- Develop and deliver privacy operations program plans for global corporate clients
- Provide detailed information to clients on various domestic and global privacy laws
- Establish new relationships to drive new opportunities for BDO
- Comply with BDO’s Quality Risk Management, Data Protection, and other Frameworks
- Manage and maintain relationships with client professionals
- Ensure clients receive timely and thoughtful responses to inquiries
- Build relationships with other BDO professionals and participate in industry events
- Update customer relationship management to ensure appropriate pipeline reporting
- Develop proposals and respond to RFP/RFIs
- Utilize knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans
- Participate in business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance meetings
- Manage project budgets and review invoices
- Mentor team members to ensure consistent work product and adherence to BDO standards
- Manage multiple large, complex engagements and clients
- Support the Data Protection Officer for clients, as needed
- Act as a leader and maintain a professional attitude towards clients and firm personnel
- Manage a team of professionals on a project or regional basis

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or other advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of consulting experience required
- 3+ years of data protection or privacy experience required
- Experience working with Fortune 500 clients preferred
- 5+ years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects required
- One or more privacy certifications required
- Knowledge of privacy enabled technology solutions preferred
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio, required
- Multilingual capabilities preferred

complies with bdo’s quality risk management, data protection, and other frameworks to ensure consistency across service delivery
manages and maintains relationships with client professionals, and introduces other bdo professionals to expand on existing relationships
manages the day-to-day project requirements, as well as the on-site and/or remote team
ensures clients receive timely, actionable and thoughtful responses to questions, data subject requests, or supervisory authority inquiries
builds relationships with other bdo professionals, cross-sells into different industries and services, and participates in bdo and industry events where subject matter expertise is requested
ensures corporate clients are provided quality level services
updates appropriate customer relationship management to ensure appropriate pipeline reporting
reviews client executive reports, and provides feedback to team members
develops proposals, responds to rfp/rfi’s and ensures master service agreements and engagement letters are managed according to bdo standards
utilizes knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans, establish reporting and metrics, and provide client with regular updates
participates in and conducts business unit, legal, it, privacy, and governance interviews and meetings, as needed
proofreads and edits executive reports, prior to presenting to prospects and existing clients
manages bdo client and bdo partner expectations at all levels
mentors team members to ensure quality of work product is consistent throughout client engagements, and bdo standards are applied for every engagement
manages multiple large, complex and potentially long-term engagements and clients
manages client expectations at all levels of the organization, including supporting in-person presentations to senior level executives
support the data protection officer for clients, as required
develops and manages project budgets, reviews invoices for consistency, and ensures that invoices are delivered in a timely manner
acts as a leader, and projects a professional, positive attitude toward client and firm personnel
manages a team of professionals on a project or regional basis

qualifications, knowledge, skills and abilities:

education:

bachelor’s degree, required
master’s, juris doctorate, or mba, preferred

experience:

ten (10) or more years of consulting experience, required
three (3) or more years of data protection or privacy experience, required
experience working with fortune 500 clients, preferred
five (5) or more years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects, required

license(s)/certification(s):

one (1) or more of the following privacy certifications, required:
cipp/e, cipp/us, cipm, cipt, cdpse or other privacy certifications
onetrust, trustarc, or other privacy enabled technology solutions, preferred

software:

strong microsoft powerpoint skills, required
