The Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia (LASEV) is seeking a dedicated and passionate staff attorney to join our team at our Norfolk office location. As a non-profit public interest law firm, LASEV provides legal assistance to low-income clients in a variety of civil legal matters. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to justice and poverty law and is eager to make a positive impact in our community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal representation and advice to low-income clients in civil legal matters
- Conduct legal research and writing
- Appear in court on behalf of clients
- Collaborate with other staff attorneys and support staff
- Participate in community outreach and education programs

Qualifications:
- Must be a member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing, OR eligible to waive in as a Virginia Legal Aid Counsel by having at least two years of experience in good standing in another state bar, OR sitting for the July 2024 Virginia bar exam
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
- Passion for social justice and commitment to poverty law
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
