Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Martin Luther King Jr. Internship Program provides a paid (currently $4,000), 10-week opportunity for talented law students to gain hands-on experience in the field of legal aid advocacy. MLKs work under the supervision of experienced Legal Aid attorneys, providing them with the opportunity to apply legal theory to real cases for real clients. With priority consideration for attorney positions at Legal Aid after graduation, this internship is perfect for passionate individuals who are committed to equal justice for all.

MLK Internship Program Overview

Responsibilities

- Conduct research and analysis on legal issues
- Draft legal documents
- Assist with client intake and interviews
- Attend court hearings and other legal proceedings
- Work on real cases for real clients

Eligibility

- Must be a law student
- Passion for equal justice for all
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team

Locations

MLK interns will be placed in Legal Aid offices and projects across the state of North Carolina. A list of counties served by each field office can be found here: /. Details about statewide projects can be found here: /.
