This is a full-time position for 10 weeks during the summer of 2024, with a preference for placement in their New York City office. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects related to state legislative policy and advocacy, gaining valuable experience in the day-to-day operations of a public interest law organization. ROLE:

The State Policy and Advocacy Team is seeking a Summer Legal Associate who is enthusiastic, resourceful, and highly organized, with a commitment to reproductive rights. This role will provide the successful candidate with experience in a dynamic in-house state policy and advocacy team, including opportunities to participate in legislative tracking, research, legal and legislative analysis, and coalition advocacy. The position is full-time for up to 10 weeks and will be a hybrid role, with 3 days in-office and 2 days working from home. The Center requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Summer Legal Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

- Monitoring and analyzing state legislation and other policy developments related to reproductive rights
- Assisting with the creation of policy and advocacy materials
- Conducting legal research and analysis
- Collaborating with the State Legislative Counsels and other staff on legislative, advocacy, and research projects

COMPENSATION:

Summer Legal Associates are highly encouraged to seek outside funding for their placement, and the Center will supplement external funding to bring all Associates to a pay rate of $7,000 for the ten-week program.

DURATION OF POSITION:

This is a full-time position for 10 weeks from June 2024-August 2024.
