A law firm is seeking a Lateral Intellectual Property Patent Associate Attorney to assist with patent application preparation prosecution and provide legal counsel on patent-related matters for a diverse clientele. The ideal candidate will manage business relationships, comply with ethical standards, and demonstrate expertise in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical areas.

 

Duties:

  • Assist in preparing and prosecuting patent applications, offering patentability opinions, managing patent estates, and overseeing patent licensing and enforcement for various clients.
  • Produce high-quality legal work and ensure the completion of billable hours to uphold excellent client services.
  • Generate and manage business through both individual and collaborative efforts.
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards within the legal profession.

 

Requirements:

  • Should preferably have 2-8 years of experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm, focusing on patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Demonstrated experience in software, computer science, electrical, or mechanical patent law.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with attorneys and clients.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Preferably hold a Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in good standing in jurisdictions where the firm operates and maintain relevant license renewals and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

 

Experience:
Minimum of 1 year's experience as a licensed attorney at a law firm.
