A law firm in Columbia, MD is seeking a dynamic Senior Associate Attorney with 6-10 years of experience in employment law or complex civil litigation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership capabilities, possess strong advocacy skills, and exhibit a commitment to providing exceptional legal representation. This role offers an opportunity for dual responsibility, combining practice group management with traditional client representation in employment law, professional license defense, and national security clearance matters.

 

Duties:

  • Manage and provide guidance to attorneys, paralegals, and staff within the practice group.
  • Represent clients in federal and state courts, as well as before administrative agencies.
  • Counsel and advise employers facing employment law issues and legal proceedings.
  • Prepare and draft legal pleadings, discovery, and motions on behalf of clients.
  • Advise licensed professionals facing investigations or disciplinary proceedings.
  • Negotiate settlements for legal disputes and engage in alternative dispute resolution.
  • Conduct business development activities, including networking, webinars, and presentations.
  • Meet the firm's established billable hour requirements.
  • Handle court appearances, depositions, and trials.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • 6-10 years of experience in employment law or complex civil litigation.
  • Experience leading or supervising a team of legal professionals.
  • Journal or Law Review experience preferred.
  • Experience handling proposed removals and suspensions in federal sector cases.
  • Experience representing federal employees before the . Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB).
  • Licensed to practice law in Maryland and preferably in the District of Columbia.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Maryland Bar, and preferably the District of Columbia Bar.
