- The Senior Counsel will work closely with Aegon AM's real estate private equity team.
- They will review, negotiate, and structure real estate private equity documents.
- They will lead legal due diligence for individual transactions and facilitate closings.
- The Senior Counsel will also manage post-closing asset management matters.
- They must have a JD degree and state bar admission, as well as 4+ years of real estate private equity experience.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in Low Income Housing Tax Credits, commercial mortgage loans, and agricultural mortgage loans.
- The Senior Counsel must be able to provide quality legal services in a fast-paced environment and handle a full workload efficiently.
- They must also have strong communication skills and be able to work well in a team.
- Travel may be required occasionally.

Responsibilities:

- Review, comment on, and negotiate real estate private equity documents.
- Lead legal due diligence for individual transactions.
- Facilitate closings of real estate private equity transactions.
- Manage post-closing asset management matters.
- Structure new private equity funds.
- Manage due diligence for admitting new transactions into funds.
- Respond to investor counsel questions and comments.
- Possess real estate private equity subject matter expertise.
- Study proposed and existing legislation affecting the company.
- Prepare corporate resolutions and forms.
- Guard against legal risks.
- Work may be reviewed.

Required Qualifications:

- JD degree required.
- State bar admission.
- 4+ years of real estate private equity experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Broad commercial real estate transactional experience.
- Experience with Low Income Housing Tax Credits, commercial mortgage loans, or agricultural mortgage loans.
- Ability to provide quality legal services in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle a full workload efficiently.
- Ability to demonstrate sound business judgment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work well independently.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word.
