Director of State and Local Tax Services - Job Description

FORVIS, a professional services firm providing assurance, tax, and advisory services, is seeking a Director of State and Local Tax Services to join their team in Kansas City, MO. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation, or a Juris Doctor, and at least 10 years of experience in SALT with a large accounting firm or corporate tax department of a multinational company.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and manage relationships with clients, prospects, and colleagues throughout FORVIS to identify SALT opportunities and develop new business.
- Manage, develop, and coach professional staff.
- Lead complex multi-state compliance engagements.
- Provide state-level support for income tax provision preparation and review under ASC740.
- Manage state and local income tax consulting engagements, including nexus analyses, apportionment/revenue sourcing studies, transaction planning, and restructuring.
- Assist with SALT controversy matters.
- Identify SALT opportunities in the areas of sales and use tax, property tax, and credits/incentives.
- Serve as a leader in developing a SALT presence in the local market.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation, or Juris Doctor.
- 10 years or more of SALT experience with a large accounting firm or large corporate tax department of a multinational company.
- Broad SALT experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
