A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney for their White Plains, NY, office. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience representing nursing homes and must be admitted to practice in New York State. The Associate Attorney will primarily assist in managing and collecting a large caseload of delinquent nursing home accounts. Responsibilities include:

  • Advise clients in regulatory, transactional, and litigated matters.
  • Handle resident guardianship matters for skilled nursing home residents.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, letters, stipulations, proposed orders, subpoenas, and petitions, and manage discovery requests.
  • Make court appearances as required throughout New York State.
  • Maintain substantial communication with clients, debtors, opposing counsel, and managing attorneys.
  • Assisted with and oversaw filing court documents, including e-filing practices.
  • Manage schedules and deadlines for a large caseload.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience representing nursing homes.
  • Admission to practice in New York State is required.
  • Admission to New York State Bar.
  • Prior nursing home representation experience.
  • Understanding coordination of benefits with Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other team members.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
