A law firm is seeking a Mid-Level to Senior Civil Defense/Aviation Associate Attorney for its Chicago, IL office.

Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in civil defense litigation in both state and federal courts. They should possess a strong background in aviation law, product liability, and/or premises liability. The candidate must demonstrate excellent research, writing, pre-trial discovery, and deposition skills. Additionally, the ability to work independently and within a team setting is crucial. Trial skills and experience would be advantageous. The candidate should be organized, self-motivated, and capable of handling files with minimal supervision. Illinois Bar admission is required.

Duties:

  • Handle civil defense litigation cases in state and federal courts.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Prepare cases for trial, including pre-trial discovery and deposition preparation.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support staff on case strategy and execution.
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and other legal proceedings as required.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in civil defense litigation.
  • Experience in aviation law, product liability, and/or premises liability preferred.
  • Excellent research, writing, pre-trial discovery, and deposition skills.
  • Trial skills and experience (preferred).
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Illinois Bar admission.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Illinois Bar.
