Position Summary:

- Seeking a strategic and creative federal tax professional with experience in tax-exempt organizations to join Deloitte's Business Tax Services Tax-Exempt practice.
- The role will involve providing tax compliance and consulting services to non-profit clients in various industries, including health care providers, private foundations, and educational institutions.
- The Tax Senior will work closely with clients, manage the tax engagement team, and have access to support from firm leadership.
- This role offers the opportunity to work with like-minded specialists from across the country.

What You'll Do:

- Spend at least 50% of time serving non-profit clients, with potential for full-time focus.
- Provide tax compliance and consulting services, including restructuring, acquisition planning, tax controversy, and philanthropic tax planning.
- Work with sophisticated clients and manage the tax engagement team.
- Collaborate with other Tax-Exempt specialists from around the country.
- Responsibilities may include maintaining client relationships, advising on tax issues, and overseeing tax compliance and consulting projects.

- Deloitte's Business Tax Services Tax-Exempt practice is comprised of dedicated professionals with experience in serving non-profit organizations and sophisticated donors.
- The team also includes specialists in multi-state and international tax compliance and transfer tax planning.
- The Tax-Exempt team works closely with colleagues in Consulting, Audit & Assurance, and Advisory on client projects.

Deloitte's Global Center for Excellence in Philanthropy:

- This cross-functional team, including tax, audit, and consulting professionals, serves individuals, companies, and non-profits working to drive societal change.
- The team has extensive experience in philanthropic tax advisory services for high-net-worth individuals.

Qualifications:

Required:

- Ability to work in a hybrid model, with 2-3 days per week in-person.
- 3+ years' experience in federal taxation, with a focus on tax-exempt organizations (501(c)(3)s and 501(c)(4)s).
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field.
- One of the following accreditations: CPA, licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), or Certified Financial Planner (CFP).
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred:

- Advanced degree (Masters of Tax, JD, or LLM).
- Previous experience at a Big 4 or large CPA firm.
- Strong understanding and experience with federal tax compliance, analysis, and research.
- Knowledge of mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring specific to tax-exempt organizations.
- Excellent research, writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Strong management and analytical skills.
