Duties:

  • Handle complex commercial contract matters, mechanics liens, surety bonds, and insurance coverage matters that may involve litigation, trials, appeals, arbitration, or mediation.
  • Draft and negotiate Construction, Design, and Design Build Agreements.
  • Conduct investigations, manage, and oversee the discovery of large collections of documents and electronic data.
  • Work on commercial construction litigation, delay and impact claims, mechanics lien claims, construction surety bond claims, negotiation and drafting of design and construction agreements, construction defect claims, and insurance coverage related to construction claims.
  • Provide representation for design professionals.
  • Conduct depositions, pretrial proceedings, and trials as needed.
  • Utilize technical knowledge in design or construction to enhance legal practice.

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of relevant experience in construction law and related fields.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois and in good standing.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong legal research, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex legal matters independently.
  • Genuine interest in expanding a national legal practice.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in complex commercial contract matters.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanics liens, surety bonds, and insurance coverage issues.
  • Legal drafting and negotiation skills.
