Position Summary:

The Legal Aid Society of San Diego is seeking a Staff Attorney for their Consumer Protection Team. This individual will be responsible for maintaining a heavy caseload, which includes interviewing prospective clients, providing legal advice, negotiating with opposing parties, preparing documents, representing clients in various phases of litigation, and engaging in community outreach and education. The Staff Attorney will also be expected to develop impact litigation strategies and find solutions for broader client problems.

- Handling an increasingly complex caseload
- Engaging in community outreach and education

- Developing creative methods for dealing with recurring client problems
- Staying up to date on consumer protection developments

Requirements:

- Admitted and in good standing with the State Bar of California
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Reliable transportation

- Admitted and in good standing with the Federal Bar
- Knowledge or experience in consumer protection law
- Experience in civil litigation
- Fluency in Spanish or another language preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Salary and Benefits:

The Staff Attorney position offers an annual salary range of $75,000 - $112,500, with a starting pay of $75,000. Bilingual pay increase is available for passing oral and written tests in threshold languages other than English. LASSD also offers a generous benefits package, including paid vacation and sick leave, 100% employer-paid medical premium, and retirement and savings plans.

Hybrid Work Environment:

LASSD has adopted a hybrid work environment, with staff required to work in the office part of the week and allowed to work remotely for the rest of the week.
