A law firm based in Brookfield, WI, is seeking a Senior Estate Planning Associate Attorney. The attorney will be responsible for handling a demanding load of client meetings, drafting and reviewing documents, occasional litigation, and overseeing estate administration. This role involves assuming full responsibility for the estate planning production pipeline, periodically reviewing clients' older plans, supervising paralegals for probate and trust administration, and providing professional client inquiries with quick response time.

 

Duties:

  • Handle client meetings, document drafting/review, and occasional litigation
  • Be familiar with the estate administration process
  • Supervise a probate paralegal for various tasks including drafting forms, preparing accountings, communicating with financial institutions, real estate agents, etc., and filing documents with the courts
  • Assume full responsibility for the estate planning production pipeline from design to client delivery
  • Review clients' older plans periodically and suggest updates
  • Supervise estate administration paralegals and assist fiduciaries with estate administration tasks
  • Advise clients on estate planning matters including retirement plans, charitable giving, and insurance
  • Draft wills, trusts, and powers of attorney
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and paralegals to move files through the estate administration process
  • Represent clients in court regarding estate matters
  • Conduct legal research, drafting discovery, motions, pleadings, orders, judgments, and status updates
  • Make recommendations on policies, procedures, and systems to run the business efficiently
  • Give presentations to groups of clients, attorneys, financial professionals, or potential clients
  • Maintain CLEs and law license
  • Develop relationships with the community served and its leaders

 

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited law school
  • Licensed to practice law in Wisconsin or able to be licensed within 3 months
  • 5+ years of estate planning experience, including planning for taxable estates
  • 3+ years of estate and trust administration and probate experience
  • Experience with Windows 10 or 11 and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
  • Experience with MS Teams, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Actionstep preferred
