Staff Attorney The candidate will be responsible for implementing the process to efficiently and expeditiously respond to equal opportunity complaints. Will reviews and investigates equal opportunity complaints. Will prepare and presents complaints to the Equal Opportunity Board and/or its committee(s) for consideration and determinations. Will work cooperatively with Assistant Corporation Counsel (ACC/EO) designated as the Administrator of Equal Opportunity. Will assist ACC/EO in preparation of materials required for meetings of the Equal Opportunity Board, including but not limited to agenda items and reports. Will maintain information and statistics on complaints for annual reporting; Directs, as needed, the work of paralegal(s) and other support staff in order to carry out duties and responsibilities. Will represents EO Board and Office of EO in court hearings.

Qualification and Experience The candidate should be Doctor of Jurisprudence from an ABA accredited law school. Active, In-Good Standing license to practice law in Indiana. Admission to practice law in the U.S. Southern District of Indiana preferred. Knowledge of Municipal Code of Indianapolis helpful. Knowledge of and experience in administrative law helpful. Spanish speaking and interpretation background, preferred. Should have ability to interact with people in varying positions and from different walks of life. Should have willingness to work under pressure while dealing with unexpected situations and deadlines. Deep knowledge and understanding of different cultures within the Latino community as well as different dialects from various Spanish speaking countries would be beneficial. Must have knowledge of the relevant federal, state and local laws governing equal opportunity. Independent judgment is utilized.
