A law firm in Houston, TX, is seeking a qualified General Education Associate Attorney to represent public school districts and educational institutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in employment law, governance, administrative law, and student issues, including civil rights and constitutional law. Attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and proficiency in research and writing are essential for success in this role. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in public speaking, strong interpersonal skills, and prior work with school districts or governmental entities. Duties:

  • Represent public school districts and educational institutions in legal matters pertaining to employment, governance, administrative law, and student issues.
  • Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings.
  • Provide legal counsel and advice to clients on a variety of education-related issues.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop strategies and solutions to legal challenges.
  • Attend hearings, trials, and other legal proceedings as necessary.
  • Assist with negotiations and settlements, as well as represent clients in alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Keep abreast of developments in education law and related fields.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on education law preferred.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, governance, administrative law, and civil rights/constitutional law.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Effective oral communication skills and experience in public speaking.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues.
  • Experience working with school districts or governmental entities is preferred.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas.
