A law firm in Ridgeland, MS, is seeking a General Liability Associate Attorney with exceptional writing, research, and litigation skills to join their team. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced attorneys and staff members, handling a variety of civil litigation matters with an emphasis on insurance defense.

 

Job Details:

  • Conduct file review and legal analysis of claims and causes of action.
  • Perform extensive legal research and draft substantial briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.
  • Maintain an annual billable amount of 1950 hours.
  • Represent clients in court, arbitrations, and depositions regularly.
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests.
  • Retain and collaborate with expert witnesses.
  • Prepare for and attend trials, including trial preparation and attendance.
  • May require some travel.
  • Handle civil cases from beginning to end.
  • Take and defend depositions, including 30(b)(6) and expert depositions.
  • Draft and argue substantive motions and attend hearings and trials.
  • Participate in negotiations and mediations.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Admitted to practice in the state of Mississippi; admission in other states is a plus.
  • 2-5 years of civil litigation experience with a focus on insurance defense.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong research abilities and written and oral communication skills.
