Director, Privacy & Data Protection - BDO

BDO, a global accounting and advisory firm, is seeking a Director to join their thriving Privacy & Data Protection (PDP) Practice in Washington, DC. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with 10+ years of consulting experience and 3+ years of data protection or privacy experience to lead engagements and provide subject matter expertise to domestic and international clients.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and deliver global data protection and privacy strategies to client C-suite/board
- Build cross-culture functionality for clients to operationalize global privacy programs
- Manage project teams and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of quality work product
- Establish new relationships to drive new opportunities for BDO
- Comply with BDO’s Quality Risk Management, Data Protection, and other Frameworks
- Review and provide feedback on client executive reports
- Develop proposals, respond to RFP/RFI’s and manage Master Service Agreements and engagement letters
- Utilize knowledge of client needs to develop project and resource plans, establish reporting and metrics, and provide regular updates
- Participate in and conduct business unit, legal, IT, privacy, and governance interviews and meetings
- Manage a team of professionals on a project or regional basis
- Support the Data Protection Officer for clients, as required
- Develop and manage project budgets and review invoices for consistency and timely delivery
- Act as a leader and maintain a professional, positive attitude toward clients and firm personnel
- Mentor team members to ensure consistency and application of BDO standards
- Manage client expectations at all levels of the organization
- Act as primary contact on assigned engagements
- Up-sell after the first engagement

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree, required; Master’s, Juris Doctorate, or MBA, preferred
- 10+ years of consulting experience, required
- 3+ years of data protection or privacy experience, required
- Experience working with Fortune 500 clients, preferred
- 5+ years of experience managing large, complex privacy projects, required
- One or more privacy certifications (CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, CIPT, CDPSE or other)
- OneTrust, TrustArc, or other privacy enabled technology solutions, preferred
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills, required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Visio, required
- Knowledge of database systems, software development lifecycle, and technology company operations, preferred
- Executive presence and ability to up-sell after the first engagement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and advanced research skills
- Solid organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
- Ability to successfully multi-task and work independently or within a group environment
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels and build strong relationships

Salary Information:

- California Range: $200,000 - $225,000
- Colorado Range: $200,000 - $225,000
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $200,000 - $225,000
- Washington Range: $200,000 - $225,000
