A law firm in New York City is seeking a qualified Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of academic achievement solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, along with superb writing and communication skills. The candidate should have a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering, although other engineering disciplines coupled with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is a mandatory requirement.

 

Duties:

  • Conduct patent preparation and prosecution activities related to medical devices and mechanical engineering technologies.
  • Collaborate with inventors, engineers, and legal professionals to gather necessary information for patent applications.
  • Draft and file patent applications with the USPTO, responding to office actions and examiner inquiries.
  • Conduct patentability searches and analyses to assess the uniqueness and viability of inventions.
  • Assist in the development and management of patent portfolios for clients.
  • Provide legal advice and opinions on patent matters, including infringement and validity analyses.

 

Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or higher degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
  • Admission to the USPTO is mandatory.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement and solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

Education:

Bachelor's or higher degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
