Organization Overview:
- Justice Action Center (JAC) is a start-up social justice organization focused on using storytelling and impact litigation to bring justice to immigrant communities.
- JAC's work includes Supreme Court campaigns, impact litigation, and projects to improve the legal status of DACA recipients.
- Currently, JAC has nine staff members located throughout the United States.

Job Description:
- The Staff Attorney will report to one of the litigators in the Legal Department and contribute to JAC's impact litigation and other legal goals.
- JAC is looking for candidates who are committed to filling gaps in impact litigation for immigrant communities, working nimbly in the face of new challenges, and taking creative approaches to combining storytelling and litigation.
- This is a fully remote position in a start-up environment.

Responsibilities:
- Substantively contribute to all stages of litigation, including drafting complaints and legal briefs and participating in oral argument.
- Conduct research on novel legal issues and draft thorough research memos.
- Engage in JAC's legal projects, including their current project to improve the legal status of DACA recipients.
- Communicate effectively with clients and co-counsel, conduct legal research, and represent JAC in conferences and oral arguments.
- Develop relationships with clients and potential plaintiffs to amplify their stories in JAC's legal work.
- Manage, supervise, and mentor additional staff as JAC grows.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with pro bono counsel, co-counsel, and other organizations.
- Represent JAC in local, national, and international coalitions and working groups.
- Serve as a JAC spokesperson, including in media appearances.
- Review draft press releases and social media materials for legal accuracy and messaging strength.
- Present on a range of topics for different audiences.
- Contribute to JAC's vision and strategy for combining litigation and storytelling.
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with colleagues and co-counsel.
- Engage with movement partners to support directly impacted leaders.

Qualifications:
- . from an accredited law school.
- In good standing with at least one state bar.
- At least one year of litigation experience (federal clerkships qualify).
- Demonstrated commitment to civil liberties and social justice.
- Willingness to work and be mentored remotely.
- Strong legal writing and research skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly collaborative and good listener.
- Creative problem solver and flexible in the face of challenges.
- Commitment to JAC's mission and best practices for equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Prior experience working with immigrants or marginalized communities is a plus.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- 100% remote position.
- Must reside and work in the United States.
- Occasional out-of-state travel required.
