LyondellBasell, a global leader in the chemical industry, is seeking a Counsel for Compliance with expertise in data privacy laws and regulations. This role will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on data privacy matters, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

As a Counsel for Compliance, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to further LyondellBasell's purpose of creating solutions for everyday sustainable living. This includes conducting data protection impact assessments, negotiating and drafting privacy provisions in agreements, monitoring changes in laws and regulations, and responding to data-privacy-related inquiries and incidents. You will also have the opportunity to train employees on data privacy best practices and maintain the company's privacy management tool.

To be successful in this role, you must have a Juris Doctor degree and be admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction. You should also have at least 4 years of legal experience in data privacy law, preferably in both private practice and in-house. Expert knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations, as well as strong legal drafting and negotiation skills, are essential. Additionally, you should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be flexible to travel, and have experience in public speaking and conducting training with large audiences.

Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice on data privacy matters to various departments within LyondellBasell
- Develop, implement, and maintain global data privacy policies and procedures
- Conduct data protection impact assessments and advise on risks
- Negotiate and draft privacy provisions in agreements with customers and third-party vendors
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and ensure compliance
- Respond to data-privacy-related inquiries and incidents, including potential data breaches and data subject requests
- Train employees on data privacy best practices and legal requirements
- Maintain the company's privacy management tool, OneTrust

Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- At least 4 years of legal experience in data privacy law
- Expert knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations
- Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to travel
- Experience in public speaking and conducting training with large audiences

Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional European language proficiency
- Experience with OneTrust and Archer systems
