Organization is looking for an environmental attorney to join their Office of Administrative Counsel. This position will work under the direction of the Administrative Counsel to assist in completing its various functions in support of the Agency's mission of protecting and enhancing human health and the environment.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Job Description:

The Attorney position works on a broad range of issues in several practice areas, including legal research, analysis, and writing regarding environmental laws and other laws pertinent to the Agency functions; managing, drafting, and reviewing contracts, including access agreements; assisting with rulemaking and the legislative agenda; strategically supporting Agency compliance and enforcement cases, in cooperation with the Attorney General's Office; reviewing and updating Agency policies, templates, and forms; creating standard work for Agency processes and conducting staff training; public records response support, and completing special projects and assignments. This position requires excellent customer service skills, self-motivation and initiative to solve problems creatively and independently, an ability to manage teams, great communication skills, and a desire to work hard to transform the office in order to have more mission outcomes.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

• Knowledge of: federal and state environmental statutes; AZ state government administrative practice; AZ state legislative processes; legal interpretation fundamentals; contract drafting fundamentals

• Skills in excellent oral and written communication; legal research; project management; facilitating collaboration among various stakeholders; excellent interpersonal skills; effectively leading or facilitating teams to solve problems; public speaking; problem-solving; analysis and evaluation techniques; legal and report writing; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to: multi-task in a fast-paced working environment; produce work product with limited supervision; produce effective written communication; work with technical and professional staff and stakeholders to obtain consensus on issues; interpret statutes, rules, policies, and permits; successfully interact with government and legislative officials, including the Attorney General's Office; prioritize, plan, analyze, and coordinate processes and activities; utilize the Arizona Management System, and metrics and analytics for continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have a Juris Doctor degree, an Arizona State Bar License, and five years of relevant experience providing legal advice.
