A law firm in New York City is seeking a skilled Real Estate Litigation/Landlord-Tenant Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in drafting motions for summary judgment, appearing in Landlord-Tenant court, handling NYC-based court appearances, and providing legal counsel to real estate operators. Commercial litigation and NYC real estate experience are preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Draft motions for summary judgment and motions to compel
  • Represent clients in Landlord-Tenant court, arguing motions and trying cases
  • Prepare predicate notices, including rent demands, termination notices, notices to cure, non-payment, and holdover petitions
  • Draft pleadings in plenary actions for breach of contract/lease/guaranty
  • Draft lease modifications, surrender agreements, and other related landlord-tenant agreements
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice and counsel to real estate operators, focusing on the NYC region and throughout the US
  • Handle landlord/tenant trials, if required
  • Handle commercial and construction litigation matters, if necessary

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of Landlord-Tenant/Real Estate Litigation experience
  • Experience handling NYC-based Landlord-Tenant court appearances
  • Knowledge of NYC real estate law (residential and commercial)
  • Commercial litigation experience is a plus
  • Strong drafting skills for legal motions, pleadings, and agreements
  • Ability to provide strategic legal advice and counsel to clients
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school

 

Certifications:

Admitted to the New York State Bar
