Conservation Law Foundation Internship - Fall/Spring 2023/2024 Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) is offering internships for fall 2023 and spring 2024. The internships provide an opportunity to work closely with CLF attorneys and the Lake Champlain Lake Keeper, who are based out of the Montpelier office. Interns and externs must be law or graduate students and should have strong academic credentials, exceptional writing skills, and an interest in advocacy and environmental issues. Job Description Interns and externs will work on many aspects of environmental law and policy – including environmental litigation, advocacy targeting water pollution, enforcement of environmental laws, mitigating climate pollution, promoting climate resilience, promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency, reducing toxic chemical contamination, and advancing local agriculture. Interns and externs will be expected to engage in legal research and writing, participate in negotiations, draft motions and other litigation filings, collaborate with partner environmental organizations, present testimony in regulatory and legislative hearings, comment in rulemaking proceedings, and assist with communications advocacy. Interns and externs are encouraged to accompany attorneys to court and regulatory proceedings and to participate fully in CLF. Qualifications Any law or graduate student may apply. For law students, preference is given to second- and third-year JD students or LLM students. Applicants should have strong academic credentials, exceptional writing skills, and an interest in advocacy and environmental issues. CLF is a fast-paced organization and qualified interns and externs must demonstrate initiative and an ability to work well independently and collaboratively. Salary Externs will earn academic credit for their work with CLF. Interns must be able to secure external financial funding, which can come from work study, from their educational institution, or from another source. CLF is happy to work with applicants to help them navigate these requirements. Location Remote and flexible work schedules are available to interns and externs. The Montpelier office is located at 15 East State Street, Suite 4 Montpelier, VT, 05602, United States.
