Job Overview: The Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney will primarily be responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications, focusing on intellectual property matters. The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields and possess experience in IP law, particularly in drafting patent applications. This role offers an opportunity to work on various technology-related cases and collaborate with experienced attorneys in a dynamic legal environment.

Duties:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in various technology fields, focusing on computer science, electrical engineering, and related areas.
  • Conduct patentability searches and provide opinions on patent validity and infringement.
  • Communicate with clients to understand their technological innovations and patent strategies.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and patent agents to ensure comprehensive and effective patent prosecution strategies.
  • Stay updated on relevant intellectual property laws, regulations, and industry trends.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience, preferably in patent prosecution and intellectual property law.
  • Experience with drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or similar technical fields.
  • Design engineering experience with a chip company is a plus.
  • Familiarity with networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless networks, or related technologies is preferred.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is required.
  • Bar licensure in California is a plus.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one state.
  • Registration to practice before the USPTO.
