The Opportunity:

- As Assistant General Counsel, provide legal counsel to business unit leadership within USAA
- Identify and analyze legal issues and communicate effective legal advice
- Engage with business clients to understand strategic and operational objectives

What You'll Do:

- Provide legal counsel to support business objectives and mitigate risk to USAA
- Effectively communicate with stakeholders and leadership
- Proactively monitor and analyze changes in laws, regulations, and industry
- Collaborate with USAA and Chief Legal Office to mitigate risk
- Optimize work with outside counsel or contract professionals
- Assist senior attorneys and serve as a resource to less experienced team members
- Ensure risks are identified, measured, and controlled in accordance with policies and procedures

What You Have:

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited school
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in one state or a territory of the USA
- 6 years of relevant experience, with at least 4 years as a practicing attorney
- Ability to effectively communicate legal advice to business partners

What Sets You Apart:

- Experience with P&C insurance contracts, claims, and/or coverage
- Expertise in California, Texas, Florida, and/or Washington State claims

Compensation:

- USAA assesses market data and establishes ranges to ensure competitiveness
- Salary range for this position is $120,550 - $230,400, with actual salary varying by location
- Pay incentives may be available based on corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors
